The founder of the GGM School, Marlen Cabezas is a normalista graduate of the Ecole Normale of Valle del Cauca, Colombia and obtained a degree in biology and chemistry from the Santiago de Cali University. At the age of 13, Marlen undertook her first job as a of primary school teacher, and in 1990, taught biology and mathematics at high school level.
Marlen arrived in London in 1991, and immediately realised the problems developing within the Latin American community. In many cases Latin American parents were unable to speak English, and their children had limited knowledge of the Spanish language. Marlen took it upon herself to unite Latin American families and benefit the community through the teaching of the Spanish language and Latin American culture, a goal that has continued for nearly 20 years in union with wonderful and excellent teachers, support staff and community.
